Dubb Capture Privacy Policy

What the Dubb Capture browser extension does with your data, which is nothing, and why that is verifiable rather than a promise.

Effective September 17, 2026  ·  Last updated September 17, 2026

The short version

  • Dubb Capture collects no data about you.
  • Your screenshots never leave your computer. The extension makes no network requests of any kind.
  • There is no account, no sign in, and no analytics.
0Data points collected
0Network requests made

What this policy covers

This policy applies only to the Dubb Capture browser extension. Dubb's other products, including Dubb Studio and Dubb Agent, are covered by the Dubb privacy policy. Installing or using Dubb Capture does not connect it to a Dubb account, and Dubb Capture works whether or not you are a Dubb customer.

What the extension does

Dubb Capture takes a screenshot of the browser tab you are viewing, lets you annotate that image with arrows, shapes, text, highlights, and blur, and then copies the finished image to your clipboard or saves it as a PNG file. All of that happens inside your browser, on your computer.

Information we collect

None. Dubb Capture has no server component and sends no data anywhere. Specifically, the extension does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or sell:

  • your screenshots or anything visible in them
  • the pages you visit, your browsing history, or your search activity
  • your name, email address, IP address, or any other identifier
  • usage or telemetry data, including which features you use or how often you open the extension
  • cookies, advertising identifiers, or device fingerprints

Because nothing is transmitted, there is no third party that receives your data. Dubb Capture contains no analytics tools, no advertising software, and no trackers.

How your screenshots are handled

When you take a capture, the image is created by the browser and held in your browser's own local storage under a single one-time key. This exists solely to pass the image from the extension's background process to the editor tab that opens a moment later. When the editor loads the image, that entry is deleted immediately. If a capture is ever left behind, for example because you closed the editor tab before it finished loading, it is removed automatically within 24 hours.

This local storage is part of your browser profile on your own device. It is never synced to any Dubb server and never synced across your devices.

When you choose Copy to clipboard, the image is written to your operating system's clipboard. The extension only writes to the clipboard and never reads from it. When you choose Download PNG, the file is saved by your browser to the download location you have configured, the same as any other file you download.

Permissions and why each is needed

Dubb Capture requests no standing access to any website. It cannot read a page until you explicitly invoke it, and that access ends when the tab navigates away or closes.

  • activeTab

Lets the extension capture the single tab you are viewing, and only after you click the Dubb Capture toolbar icon or press its keyboard shortcut. No other tab is ever read.

  • scripting

Used only for full page capture. The extension briefly runs a short function in the tab you invoked it on to read the page's scroll height, scroll between screenshots, and temporarily hide scrollbars so they do not appear in the stitched seams. It reads no page content and transmits nothing.

  • storage and unlimitedStorage

Used for the brief local handoff of the captured image described above. The unlimited storage permission is required because a full page screenshot of a long page can exceed the browser's default 10 MB local storage limit.

  • clipboardWrite

Lets the Copy to clipboard button place the finished image on your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere.

No remote code

All of the code that runs in Dubb Capture is included in the extension package that Google reviews and distributes. The extension loads no external scripts, libraries, fonts, or images, and evaluates no code fetched at runtime.

Limited use

Dubb Capture's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Since the extension collects and transmits no user data, there is no data to transfer, sell, or use for advertising, credit assessment, or model training.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal information a company holds about you, and to opt out of its sale. We hold no personal information from Dubb Capture, so there is nothing for us to produce, correct, export, or delete, and nothing that could be sold or shared. You can delete any captures still held in local storage at any time by removing the extension.

Children

Dubb Capture is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no information from anyone, including children.

Security

Because your screenshots stay on your device and are never transmitted, they are protected by the security of your own computer and browser profile. We recommend using the blur tool to cover email addresses, names, account numbers, and other sensitive details before you share an image with anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. If a future version were ever to collect or transmit data, that would be disclosed here and in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing before the change took effect.
